Here in our community, we’ve seen lots of bags ranging from outrageous to just plain loveable…some may beep under our radars, and some may, well, let’s just say some may be too much for our discriminating tastes. But what we have for you today is sure to keep you excited: it’s the Saint Laurent Pink Monogram Quilted Bag! This piece is clearly going to be your next favorite.

The piece comes in a beautiful Chevron quilt, and with a color so vibrant (hot pink is so in season!), you’ll never want to trade it with anything else! It also bears the brand’s sterling monogram, which provides a great contrast from the textured leather exterior. Chained to perfection, you can opt to carry it with your hands or over your shoulders. How can you resist this pretty pink stunner? Right on.

What do you think about this piece? Comment and let us know!

Montblanc 1858 Timepiece Collection

Jewelry & Watches

Making old new again is one thing, but doing it well is the part that’s perhaps hardest to pull off, as luxury brands that dip into archives for the sake of offering something ‘new’ to customers have realised. But when it’s done well, it deserves to be celebrated, which brings us to Montblanc’s new 1858 Timepiece collection. Inspired by vintage lines created throughout the 157-year history of Minerva, the watch manufacturer (now owned by Montblanc, by the way), they have released four timepieces, one the 1858 Chronograph Tachymeter (shown above), the other the1858 Small Second Special Edition (shown below).

Cast in 18K red gold and made reminiscent of chronographs worn by adventurers of that time, even the winding crown is made with extended fluted facets, a vintage throwback to the time when one had to wear gloves whilst adjusting the dial. Watch hands are luminescent, even Montblanc’s historic logo is used for that truly vintage feel, which also happens to be the bit I love the most.

More specifically, it is this that I’m loving (and eyeing) for myself. Known as the 1858 Small Second Special Edition, it’s as straightforward as it gets: a stainless steel 44 mm case (I do love my watches big) with a manually wound movement, the same glow-in-the-dark watch dial that’s limited to just 858 pieces, in tribute to Minerva’s 1858 birthday.

Paired with a black alligator strap that features contrast stitching, it’s another handsome timepiece that will work well with most anything I wear, be it dressed up or dressed down.

For those without deep pockets (because anything that comes in limited numbers will naturally cost more), here are the other two from the same collection that are more entry-level. Simply known as the 1858 Small Second, they also feature stainless steel cases but comes more pared down, one with a brown calfskin leather strap that I love love love, the other a bracelet that’s a tad odd, if you ask me. Both priced under the SGD5000 range, it will also make a great gift for the man who wants something ruggedly handsome and hardy.

High street label H&M’s latest collaboration is a pretty unusual one. The much loved clothingcompany has joined hands with Paris’s Musée des Arts Décoratifs to create their latest Conscious Collection that is inspired by the archives of the museum. French art director and model Julia Restoin Roitfeld will be the face of the campaign for this collection.

H&M’s design team explored the museum’s archival fashions and the work of artists like Gustave Moreau to create a collection that is glamorous and modern while maintaining some artistic flair for the red carpet. Expect interesting prints, delicate fabrics and intricate details.

“I am honored to be the ambassador of such a unique project. I think that the idea of creating a collection inspired by the history of art and fashion is fantastic, especially since it is made with innovative and sustainable materials which are the future of fashion,” says Julia who fits the aesthetic of the collection thanks to her effortless, modern style.

The Silk Dress

I’ve been receiving requests for some dressier maternity outfits (for casual ones, you can refer to this post – I’m pretty much in one of these dresses on most days). Luckily for my comfort, I haven’t had too many very formal reasons to dress up, though friends keep egging me on to be more social (I suspect at least partially motivated by my designated driver status). I’ve had some dinner events in the past month though, so snapped some pictures to share with you all.

Dress 6 months

Yes, I still wear heels…I always grip the handrail though and really only wear teetering ones like these when it’s a strict “car seat straight to dinner seat” type of situation. Otherwise, I’m always in flat sandals or moderate wedge espadrilles.

The bag is my black sellier Kelly – I’ve been meaning to share it on the blog because I wanted to do a comparison between retourne and sellier styles, but have fallen behind. I’ll try to do a review soon. But in the meantime, I’ll say that Grace Kelly had it right – it does a great job of hiding a baby bump!

Silk Dress

The heels are Nicholas Kirkwood (closest versions are this pearl pair and these Hexagon pumps, both really cool). The dress I’m wearing is actually one that I had made for me awhile back, after searching fruitlessly for the perfect silk resort dress and not finding one that wasn’t monstrously priced. Silk + beach weather + salt water + sand doesn’t always mix well, so I don’t like to pack pricey clothes on resort holidays. I love the cut and embroidery and was really happy with how it turned out. I’ve packed it in the past as a nicer outfit to wear while on beach holidays, but the light silk and looser cut has made it perfect for spring evenings as well…and it’s forgiving even with my six month baby belly.

Actually I’ve realized that this dress has been so accommodating, that I’m creating it in a different color and a slightly smaller cut for after pregnancy, to give me something to look forward to. A few readers have given the same advice, to pick up a few items to have as a treat for after giving birth. Hoorah!
